Building a business, providing for the people you love, or stepping away from a company you spent years growing are among life’s biggest decisions, and the legal and financial details behind them can feel overwhelming. Attorney Jay Pink brings a steady hand and a planner’s mindset to clients navigating these moments. Focused on estate planning, business law, and the sale and succession of closely held companies, Jay helps individuals, families, and business owners protect what they’ve built. He understands that clarity and peace of mind matter just as much as the paperwork, and his goal is to make sure you feel informed and supported every step of the way.
Jay’s ability to untangle the financial and legal sides of a business or estate stems from an unusually broad foundation. He earned his B.S. in accounting from Boston College—where he competed as a varsity pole vaulter and spent a year studying business abroad in Parma, Italy—before going on to earn his law degree from Concord Law School. Along the way, he became a CPA and a CFP® professional and spent nearly a decade practicing business and estate law at the Modesto firm Gianelli and Associates. That blend of accounting, financial planning, and legal training lets him see a client’s whole picture—tax, business, and family—rather than a single piece of it.
Jay came to the law later than most—and on purpose. While working as an accountant, he kept encountering the legal questions that shape business owners’ and families’ lives, which led him to attend law school while continuing to work full time so he could help clients on both sides of the ledger. What he loves most about the work is its direct impact: coming alongside good people during major milestones and helping them move forward with confidence. His parents, who built and ran a manufacturing company, remain his greatest influence, modeling the hard work, integrity, and respect for others that still guide his practice today.
Though he grew up in Massachusetts, Jay has put down deep roots in the Sierra foothills and stays active in the communities he serves as President of the Calaveras Bar Association. Outside the office, you’ll find him with his kids, on the golf course, or hiking and bouldering around Columbia State Historic Park. His son’s spot at Westmont College gives the family a standing reason to visit Santa Barbara. He and his wife, Dana, also spent four years living and working in Malawi—the “Warm Heart of Africa”—an experience that still shapes how he treats the people he serves. That grounded life beyond the office helps him remain a calm, focused advocate for his clients.
