MEET JAY
I grew up in Massachusetts with entrepreneurial parents who ran a plastics manufacturing company (they have since sold, and it is now under new ownership). That exposure to entrepreneurial parents and a family business formed many of my passions and guides my efforts as an attorney.
I attended Boston College for undergraduate study and majored in accounting. Spending a year-abroad living and studying business in Italy gave me an invaluable exposure to international business issues and methodologies.
After graduation I moved to San Diego, California where I passed the California CPA exam (all 4-parts on first attempt) and began working in a CPA firm in beautiful downtown San Diego. There I was privileged to assist many clients running businesses of varying sizes and helped them with financial and tax related issues.
While in San Diego I met my wife, Dana Pink (née Gianelli), and together we ended up working in Malawi, Africa. We spent 4-years with the African Bible Colleges where I taught bookkeeping and Dana taught 3rd grade. Our oldest child was born in Malawi and we still have many good friends there.
After leaving Africa, we moved to Massachusetts where I worked as an executive for my parents’ business and started law school through Concord Law School. I passed the California Bar Exam (on my first attempt) and our family is happily settled in sunny California.
Our experience in Africa taught us many things about the importance of community and helping those around us. I have been highly involved in the community throughout my law career. I was the class member of the year in the Leadership Modesto (LEMO) class of 2015-6, and was a recipient of the 2017 Modesto Bee 20 Under 40 award, a founding member of the Glorious Modesto movement, and a member of the New Leadership Network of Stanislaus County.
In 2018 our family moved to Sonora, CA. In 2019, I launched my own law firm with offices in Modesto and Sonora. I was a member of the Leadership Tuolumne class of 2019-2020, the Tuolumne Business Council and other community efforts, while continuing to build roots and connections in Stanislaus, Tuolumne and Calaveras counties.
