Sheryl’s path to family law began with a deep curiosity about the human mind and the legal system. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Social Science from California State University, Stanislaus — making the Dean’s List — with concentrations in psychology, criminal justice, and history. Her coursework in abnormal psychology and juvenile delinquency gave her early insight into how mental health shapes behavior in adults and children alike, a perspective that continues to inform how she handles custody matters and high-conflict cases. She went on to earn her law degree from the Drivon School of Law at Humphreys College, where a faculty of working attorneys and sitting judges brought real-world practice directly into the classroom.

Before joining the firm, Sheryl spent over three years at Hakeem, Ellis and Marengo building a well-rounded family law practice. Her professional foundation, however, runs deeper than her legal career alone. Prior to practicing law, she worked in the Pupil Personnel department of a school district and served as a benefits coordinator at a state-compliant agency for disabled children and adults — roles that sharpened her ability to advocate within complex systems on behalf of vulnerable clients and gave her firsthand insight into the pressures facing families, schools, and institutions. That experience proves especially valuable in contested custody and placement matters.

Sheryl chose to pursue law later in life, after her children were grown, and that timing shows in the patience and maturity she brings to every client relationship. A personal connection to family law drives her as well — watching a sibling navigate divorce and custody gave her an unfiltered view of how these cases unfold and why the right representation makes all the difference. Her commitment is simple: she wants clients to understand their rights, have their questions answered, and leave every meeting feeling like someone is genuinely in their corner. When she is not advocating for clients, Sheryl enjoys the California outdoors, cooking, creating visual art, and exploring new restaurants. Her most memorable travel experience was a trip to the hot springs of southern Japan, and her favorite California escape is Half Moon Bay.
